Okay. So. This is the only video I had of anything I’ve painted, and it’s one of the first times I’ve tried to figure out how that works, and it was… probably done around the beginning of this year, I suppose.
The painting was one that got perhaps two notes in a month and a half and was subsequently deleted for being a … non-viable piece (which is why I didn’t try to figure out how to upload this), so unfortunately you get a very long three-part video of me painting something no one liked.
But I set it to some music that reminds me of Jim and will hopefully at least make the experience less painful. Though I apologize in advance if it only exacerbates things. I’m not really a ‘commentary’ kind of person. You can always mute it and play your own stuff, right.
Now, the brushes I used were the airbrush, the cover pencil for the sketch (the beginning shows that I used the grid to get the proportions right, but I don’t make you sit and suffer through that process, which always takes almost as long as the painting itself and is why I sometimes skip the grid and eyeball it, but sometimes I feel like that’s a bit obvious afterwards), and the detail blender.
If you use Painter, you’re probably familiar enough with those, but I also use a custom brush from the ‘tinting’ menu that I think started out as ‘basic round’ but has been customized like this:
These are the songs, in order, in case anyone wants to look those up:
PART ONE
Poets of the Fall - Psycho
Poets of the Fall - Kamikaze Love
Poets of the Fall - The Lie Eternal
PART TWO
Poets of the Fall - The Distance
Overwerk - Odyssey
Tool - Vicarious
PART THREE
Keane - Rubbernecking
A Perfect Circle - The Outsider
Akira Yamaoka - Rain of Brass Petals (3 Voices Edit)
Jen Titus - O Death

Aaaand… other than that, I apologize for the quality but my laptop is a piece of shit and can’t really handle the creation of one where you can actually see the detail.
